Salama Hosting is committed to providing a safe, reliable, and fair hosting environment for all customers. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the standards of conduct expected of all users of our services. It supplements and forms part of our Terms of Service. By using any Salama Hosting service, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Lawful Use Only
All Salama Hosting services must be used for lawful purposes only and in accordance with applicable Ugandan and international law. Clients are solely responsible for all content hosted on or transmitted through their accounts. Salama Hosting reserves the right to remove any content that violates this AUP without prior notice.
2. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on Salama Hosting infrastructure:
- Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, patents, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving minors. Accounts found hosting such material will be immediately terminated, and details forwarded to the relevant authorities.
- Defamatory, harassing, threatening, or abusive content directed at individuals or groups.
- Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activities including fraud, money laundering, or identity theft.
- Malware, ransomware, spyware, viruses, or any destructive software.
- Content that constitutes illegal gambling or unlicensed financial services.
3. Spam and Email Abuse
Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) from or through Salama Hosting servers is strictly prohibited. This includes:
- Sending unsolicited commercial or promotional email to recipients who have not opted in.
- Operating or facilitating open mail relays.
- Harvesting email addresses from websites or other sources for spam purposes.
Violations of this section will result in immediate account suspension. Verified spam activity will incur a penalty of UGX 900,000 per incident to cover investigation and remediation costs, in addition to potential account termination.
4. Network and Server Abuse
The following activities are prohibited and may result in immediate service termination:
- Attempting to access or exploit systems, networks, or accounts you are not authorised to use ("hacking").
- Conducting or facilitating Denial of Service (DoS) or Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
- Port scanning, network probing, or exploiting security vulnerabilities of third-party systems.
- Using our servers as a staging ground for attacks on other networks or systems.
- Running cryptocurrency mining operations without prior written approval from Salama Hosting.
5. Resource Usage
Customers on shared hosting plans must not consume excessive server resources (CPU, RAM, disk I/O) in ways that degrade performance for other users on the same server. Scripts and applications causing server instability may be suspended without notice. We will always attempt to notify you and work with you to resolve resource issues before suspension.
6. File Sharing and P2P
BitTorrent and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing is prohibited on shared hosting plans. VPS and dedicated server customers may operate P2P applications only for lawful content. The distribution of copyrighted material without authorisation is prohibited on all plan types.
7. Reseller Responsibilities
Reseller customers are responsible for ensuring that their end-users comply with this AUP. Salama Hosting may hold resellers accountable for AUP violations committed by their clients. Resellers must have appropriate terms of service in place with their own customers that incorporate the substance of this AUP.
8. Reporting Violations
If you believe a Salama Hosting customer is violating this AUP, please report it to abuse@salamahosting.com. All reports are treated confidentially. Please include:
- Your name and contact details.
- The IP address or domain name involved.
- A description of the alleged violation with any supporting evidence.
Salama Hosting will investigate all credible reports and take appropriate action. False or malicious reports may result in action against the complainant.
9. Enforcement
Salama Hosting reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend or terminate any account found to be in violation of this AUP. We will generally notify the customer and provide an opportunity to remedy non-critical violations before taking action, except in cases involving illegal content, spam, or network attacks where immediate action is necessary to protect other customers and infrastructure.
Salama Hosting also reserves the right to refuse new service to any individual or organisation, at its discretion.
